As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will focus on winning new work across central government, local government, and related public bodies. You will build trusted relationships, understand organisational challenges, and help shape opportunities that lead to impactful digital transformation.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with colleagues in business development, delivery, and presales. The role suits someone who combines commercial drive with a consultative and people‑centred approach.

What you will be doing
  • Generating and qualifying your own leads through outreach, networking, referrals, and industry engagement.
  • Working with marketing and SDR‑generated leads to maintain a healthy, well‑qualified pipeline.
  • Building long‑term relationships with senior stakeholders and decision‑makers across the public sector.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to prepare high‑quality tender responses and proposals.
  • Working with presales to shape, scope, and price engagements effectively.
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline forecasts and CRM records.
  • Representing the consultancy at events, forums, and speaking opportunities.
  • Championing a consultative, outcome‑based approach in every client conversation.
  • Contributing to the improvement of sales processes and ways of working.
Essential experience and skills
  • Strong B2B sales experience within the public sector, ideally in technology, digital consultancy, or professional services.
  • A consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven ability to generate your own leads and build a sustainable pipeline.
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills and a strong existing network across Government.
  • Experience navigating public sector procurement frameworks and tendering processes.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills.
  • Commercial acumen and experience negotiating and closing deals.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with technical and delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of outcome‑based or value‑based selling approaches.
