The Opportunity
A long-term transformation programme is underway to modernise a legacy application estate. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Delphi knowledge to support the migration of a Windows-based PHP/Delphi system into a modern AWS environment.
This role suits someone who is confident working with legacy codebases, understanding system dependencies, and advising on modern replacement or rewrite options.

The Project
You will help transition a legacy PHP/Delphi application running on MS SQL and Windows servers into a cloud-based, Linux-ready architecture.
Key components include:
  • Migrating the existing MS SQL database to PostgreSQL
  • Removing Windows dependencies and moving services to Linux
  • Assessing and understanding Delphi components and redesigning/re-writing where required (potentially in C#/.NET)
  • Supporting minimal Delphi UI work if needed
  • Ensuring the new environment is scalable, stable, and cloud-optimised
Key Skills & Experience Required Essential
  • Strong commercial experience with Delphi
  • Experience analysing and modernising legacy applications
  • Ability to understand dependencies and propose modern alternatives
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Lazarus IDE
  • Knowledge of WebSockets or REST APIs within Delphi
  • PHP experience
  • AWS / Docker exposure
  • Experience with C# or .NET (for potential rewrites)
Why This Role?
You’ll play a key part in a significant application modernisation programme running through to March 2026. The role provides autonomy, long-term stability, and interesting technical challenges focused on cloud migration and legacy-to-modern reengineering.
