Head of IT Engineering - West Yorkshire - Hybrid (2 days per week onsite) - Up to £110,000 basic + cash allowance + generous bonus + benefits

We are seeking an experienced technology leader to take ownership of engineering delivery across a diverse technology landscape. This is a challenging role that requires resilience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify practical solutions while maintaining delivery momentum. You will be responsible for managing multiple teams across quality assurance, application development, and software engineering, ensuring effective collaboration and high performance. This role will report into the IT Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage engineering teams covering application development, quality assurance, and software engineering.
  • Provide technical oversight across modern and legacy technology stacks to ensure effective delivery and integration.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop staff to achieve high performance, fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts with diplomacy.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to deliver software and third-party solutions seamlessly.
  • Build and nurture a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within engineering and delivery teams.
  • Recruit and establish engineering teams, driving growth and capability development for the organisation.
About You
  • Proven experience in leading diverse engineering teams and managing complex dependencies.
  • Strong understanding of both modern and legacy technology stacks.
  • Excellent people leadership and management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to navigate conflict and bring together individuals with varying skills and experience levels.
  • Expertise in coordinating multi-party delivery and managing vendor relationships.
  • Resilient and solutions-focused, able to overcome challenges and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Experience in building teams from the ground up and scaling capability.
