Event Spotlight: People First, AI Enabled
In June, we were delighted to partner with Capsticks LLP in Leeds to host our latest technology leadership roundtable, People First, AI Enabled.
Hosted by Anthony Stables (Director of IT and Innovation) and David Stocks (Data Integration and Applications Manager), the session brought together senior technology leaders to discuss one of the biggest challenges facing legal organisations today: how to embrace AI whilst keeping people at the centre of decision making.
The event generated some fantastic discussion, with leaders openly sharing experiences, challenges and practical ideas. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we're already looking forward to the next roundtable.
Key takeaways
AI still needs human judgement. Whilst AI is transforming the way we work, it cannot be relied upon to produce the right answer every time. Organisations need clear policies, guardrails and communication to ensure AI is used safely, responsibly and consistently.
Technology teams are evolving. Operating models are already changing, with growing demand for Product Owners, Data specialists and AI expertise. As AI capabilities continue to develop, the structure and skills within technology teams will continue to evolve alongside them.
The job market is changing too. Particularly within the legal sector, some traditional roles are beginning to change or disappear, but new opportunities are emerging just as quickly. The challenge for organisations is ensuring their workforce develops alongside the technology.
Early careers face a new challenge. Breaking into the industry has become increasingly competitive. Candidates who can demonstrate practical use of AI tools, showcase personal or commercial projects, and evidence experience beyond formal education are giving themselves a significant advantage.
